This started out as a personal project in 2016, however, I never found the amount of free time necessary to fully complete it until earlier this month (April 2023). The overall goal was to make a new belt for myself with a design carved into it. Originally there was a conversation that involved the belt being a demonstration piece on the difference between Hand Carved and Embossed Leather, because of the amount of time that had passed and another project that is being produced this was slightly modified to meet the criteria.

To alter the criteria was not all that difficult, however demonstrating it in the way needed was a new challenge. The new specifications was to produce a series of videos that highlighted the complexity and amount of time that was put into the making of a product similar to this, for that reason a Preview Video was created.
The overall outcome and look of the finished belt was mine to control, as I would be the intended recipient, that being said there were some aspects that were unchangeable.

The first of these things was that It needed to be Text. A design running down the length of the belt would have been interesting, however Text is something that is typically done with Stamp tools and was the best option to illustrate the point trying to be made. Secondly was the Font. This was something that I felt needed to be specific, Times New Roman is a generic font and not fancy enough to catch attention. Something like Edwardian Script would have been an interesting and a difficult challenge with how it looks like its handwriting, however this didn't seem to match what was being looked for. The end result was to use a variation of Old English, this was not a font that I hadn't previously attempted to carve. Previously I had only raised a few characters in this font, this design would have a total of 45 characters and be a good challenge.
